One of my neighbours is doing a tremendous job to stop child labour. She tries to get as many needy children as she can to put them through school. When I asked aunty about her inspiration, she said that it was her daughter, who had inspired her to do so. She used to tell her daughter that children should read and play around. One day when her daughter saw a boy cleaning tables in a hotel, she had asked why that boy was working. Aunty replied that his parents are probably poor and he is working to help his family. Her daughter immediately asked, “Why don’t you give him money to study?”

Since then, aunty has helped needy children to go school. She also said that it gave her great satisfaction when she sees the smile on these children’s faces. We need people like her in our society to stop child labour.
