World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May. Conceived by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the Worldwide Laughter Yoga movement, it was first celebrated on January 11, 1998 in Mumbai with the aim of promoting world peace through laughter. You have heard ‘laughter is the best medicine’. Wondered why? Laughing is good for your health and it keeps you happy.
Solution
It is better to be known to be cheerful than sulking. If you’re happy, you’ll be able to do your work with less trouble. Of course you can have a bad day; have a troublemaker sit next to you in class and call you names; and there are countless other things that could trouble you. This makes it even more important for you to ‘have a good laugh’.
No, it’s not strange to be cheerful all the time.
Laughter can compensate for a bad day. Your problems may not be solved as a direct consequence of laughter. But the important thing is that it will keep you from being depressed in the long run.
For example, 18.1 per cent of American adults have anxiety disorders. There are many others who have suffered psychological problems at some point in their lives. So, it becomes even more important to adopt a positive approach to life.
If you’re morose, it affects your body in terms of making you less active, fecting your appetite and hence your health.
You could be going through a bad phase, and think “No, I can’t be happy”. But at the end of the day, try watching a nice comedy or pick up a P.G. Wodehouse. Spend time with people who can make you laugh.
You may stress about your tests, home work and projects. This is inevitable, but remember to laugh, it makes life easier.
So, developing a habit of laughing will do you good. It’s way better than giving out bad vibes to people around you. Jealousy, animosity, anxiety and envy create negative energy. So, why not inculcate laughter and make it part of your system. You could have a thousand reasons to hate people around you, but why bother? Laugh and get going. It’s all about positive feelings.
Would you not be a better person if you did not carry ill-will towards people around you? In fact have a good laugh over people who bother you, but keep yourself from having persistent negative feelings. It will do your body good.
Stay fit — physically and mentally. So, have a good laugh.
