Hand on the buzzer

It was a typical Wednesday morning and I was keeping my books in the school bag when the phone rang. It was my friend Harish. He had seen the ad for The Hindu Young World Quiz 2013 and wanted me to team up with him for the event. The thought of being at Young World Quiz was enough for me. I asked my mother if I could go and she agreed.

A number of people from various schools across the city had come to attend and participate. It was a huge event and the volunteers guided us through registration and other needs.

After the preliminary round, we had a good lunch and went to see who the finalists were. When the quizmaster announced the finalists, there was a round of applause. And to our pleasant surprise, our school was also among them. We couldn’t believe it! From the 906 teams, our team was in the first six.

Though we couldn’t get placed in the top three, it was a great feeling being one of the best six teams in Chennai.
