Future looks dry

Seventy per cent of the earth’s surface is covered with water but the amount of fresh water is less. We use water for domestic and industrial purposes. But the question we must ask ourselves is, are we saving it? The answer is no.

We still haven’t realised the impact of a waterless future, and continue to waste it. While brushing our teeth, we waste gallons of water. Every drop of water we waste increases the damage we cause ourselves. On another note, we pollute surface water with chemicals which leads to the destruction of aquatic life. we can’t imagine earth without water. With water shortage, we have to fight droughts and famine. It leads to lesser yield from farming. Poverty will be on the rise. Problems between states and countries will increase. Many say that the Third World War will be over water.

We can avoid these problems if we take some small steps. Close the tap when not in use, water the plants with recycled water, and implement a rainwater harvesting system. Let’s join hands and conserve it for our future generation.
