The Hindu Young World Painting Competition – 2010 portrayed the immense talent of the young painters.

Junior First: Vinay N., VII, J.D.A.V., Public School, Jaggyapet

Vijay Navik, Std.VI student of Jawahar DAV Public School, Jaggayyapet in Krishna district, and K. Sathwika, a student of Std. X at St. John's Public School, Vijayawada, emerged proud winners in the junior and senior categories, respectively, in The Hindu Young World Painting Competition – 2010 held in the auditorium of V.P. Siddhartha Public School recently. More than 300 students participated in the competition.

Topics

The juniors were given a choice between the topics “Watching TV with family”, “playing a game with friends”, “your favourite animal or bird” or “fancy dress competition in school”, while seniors had a choice between the topics “Visit to a museum”, “village scene”, “working on school project with friends” or “travelling in train.”

In the juniors category, B. Samrudha David of Ravindra Bharathi Public School, Maruthinagar, Vijaywada stood second and Mayank Murari of Sri Satya Sai Gurukulam, Rajahmundry came third.

Among seniors, Aditi Ambasta of KCP Siddhartha Adarsh Residential Public School, Vijayawada got second prize and A. Meghana of Gowtham International School, Vijayawada, came third .

The winners of seven consolation prizes among the juniors were K. Sidhika of St. John's Public School, Vijayawada; Jaswanth of Atomic Energy Central School, Aswapuram; P. Pranavi of VPS Public School, Vijayawada; K. Basantharun of NSM Public School, Vijayawada; G. Manikanta Kalyan of Viswa Bharathi IIT Olympiad, Gudivada; Pratik Ghosh of KCP Siddhartha Adarsh Residential Public School, Vijayawada; and V. Manasa of Indian Springs, Vijayawada.

The winners of consolation prizes among seniors were Ch. Tejasvi of VPS Public School, Vijayawada; Sagar Dabherao of Atomic Energy Central School, Aswapuram; A. Rajesh of ZP High School, Penamaluru; T. Sangeetha of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Nallapadu in Guntur district; K. Karthik of NSM Public School, Vijayawada; Soumitra Dutta of KCP Siddhartha Adarsh Residential Public School, Vijayawada; and Rahul Kumar Varma of Sri Satya Sai Gurukulam, Rajahmundry.

K. Ajay Kumar, Income Tax Commissioner, Vijayawada, who was the chief guest, gave away prizes. C.V. Ramanaiah, Principal of V.P. Siddhartha Public School, K. Srinivasan, manager (corporate relations) of Chennai-based Miot Hospitals, the national sponsor of the event and K. Chandrasekaran, Regional General Manager of The Hindu, Vijayawada edition also spoke.

The local sponsors included Siddhartha Academy, Swagruha Foods, SRS Agencies, Twins and Vijaya Packaged Drinking Water.
