It was a great time for the more than 200 scouts and guides volunteers, who had come here from Davanagere in Karnataka. The sprightly young kids were seen all over the Gandhi maidan in a bid to pay respects to the Father of the Nation. They thronged the place where the statue of Gandhiji is located here in their own manner vying for a glimpse of the statue and also posing for photograph in equal zeal.

‘I was very happy to visit Talacauvery, the birthplace of river Cauvery', Shweta, a VII standard student, said. The contingent that had come in four buses has been going round all over Kodagu for past few days. There was not a hint of fatigue among the children, who were preparing to visit Dubare Elephant Camp and Nisargadhama resort run by the Forest Department near Kushalnagar. “We told the children they need not wear the Scouts and Guides uniform,” one of the teachers accompanying the student said.
The contingent had gone round almost all places of interest in Kodagu in the last three days, admiring the beauty of nature and the salubrious climate. ‘Trekking the Brahmagiri hills was an adventure. Kodagu is indeed heaven', said Virupaksha, another volunteer who was part of the team. The Kodagu Chief Commissioner of Scouts and Guides, K.T. Baby Mathew and Commissioner (organising), Jimmy Sequeira, received the members here.
