It's celebration time in schools. Independence Day, Srikrishnashtami, also called Gokulashtami, Janmashtami, and Sri Krishna Jayanthi were celebrated with fervour in many schools in the city .

The song, dance and skit on Krishna's life, utti utsavam or breaking of the pot ritual saw even parents participating, children dressed up as Krishna, gopikas , Radha, Balarama and other mythological characters, attracted viewers.

Samskara Bharati conducted its annual “Balagokulam” programme at Sri TVS Rao Krishna Vidya Mandir where children enthralled the spectators in the attire of Lord Krishna.

Parents were seen giving finishing touches to the makeup of their wards till the last minute. Similar programmes were organised at Ramakrishna School near NAD Kotha Road where a classical dance on Krishna was also staged. At BBV High School near Town Kotha Road and Maa School for Kids, Krishna fancy dress competitions were conducted for children below five years and prizes given away to them.
