Working in the demanding media industry, Sanvari Alagh Nair felt she wasn't able to give her home as much attention as she would have liked; especially when it came to the décor. “There was always something missing, something I didn't have time to buy, something I would see in a magazine but didn't know if it was available or where I could find it,” Says Sanvari. “When I would travel abroad I would see the most amazing home decor and kitchen products that would fit perfectly in my home, but I didn't know where something similar could be found in India.” So, to make quality and well-designed home and kitchen products accessible to Indian consumers all across the country, the idea of houseproud.in was conceived.

Started by Sanvari and her sister Anjori, houseproud.in is one of the first curated, exclusive online sites where one can buy kitchen merchandise, furniture and home décor accessories. The site stocks products and brands from India and abroad and is known for its signature and unique pieces; no generic, bulk produced products for them. Says Sanvari, “From vintage classic to quirky cool, we curate for all tastes to bring that individualistic edge to everything from accessories, tableware, and barware to furniture.” They choose items they would have in their own homes. At houseproud.in you will find funky Audrey Hepburn inspired dustbins and classic teak armchairs vying for space with sea shell shaped door knobs and modernistic bathroom accessories.

The site is also a cooking enthusiast's delight, the Kitchen Connoisseur selection is well stocked and updated with the absolute best. You can find spaghetti measures, egg separators, stylish chopping boards and baking utensils among others. There is also brand new range of ceramic coated cookware available, which is considered to be healthier than the ubiquitous Teflon option. While kitchenware and accessories start from Rs. 200 upwards, furniture can go up to Rs. 50,000 and above.
