What comes to mind when you think of a tile showroom? A small store with too many options where you go and make decisions purely based on budget. Now, giving designer tiles a new edge is a new showroom by Aarav Designer Tiles, launched with the brand Bagno.
Bagno, since 2000, has been producing a wide range of products - handmade, hand-painted, sandblasted and digital tiles - along with glass tiles and designer glass liquid floors.
Aarav and Bagno come together in this venture to bring Chennaiites new concepts in tile design.
The 2,000 sq. ft showroom is designed to look like a beautiful art gallery where select pieces of high-end handcrafted tiles have been displayed in the manner that one would display a marvellous piece of art. Trees, earthy patterns, Egyptian and modern art come together to create a pastiche of colours and patterns.
“We didn’t want to crowd the space,” says Atul Kapur, Managing Director, Aarav Designer Tiles, “So we have displayed a select number of tiles here and these may be mixed and matched to suit clients’ needs.”
Atul insists that tiles have a functional appeal that goes beyond bathrooms and kitchens. "Bagno tles lend themselves to multiple applications in the residential, commercial and hospitality segments, apart from bathrooms and kitchens. They offer a wide range of decorative solutions for lifts, lift lobby, facades, hotel lobby, living rooms and bedrooms for both walls and floors.”
For instance, apart from the regular tiles you use for the rest of your bathroom, you could choose one central piece that can be your ‘accent tile’. While the rest could cost between Rs. 100 and Rs. 500 per sq. ft, this one piece would cost you say Rs. 40,000 or more.
Aarav hopes that this showroom will help people understand the world of options that well-crafted tiles can offer.
