With the joint sponsorship of the Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation, Abhiruchi cultural association of Vijayawada presented a powerful and effective social play titled Akkada Kassepu Agudam at Sri Velidandla Hanumantharaya Grandhalayam hall, a popular venue for dramas. The play, slickly presented by Kalaradhana group of Nandyala, was written by A. Bhaskerchandra and was directed by G. Ravikrishna.
The story dealt with once-prevailing joint families where the family members happily lived with mutual affection and warm relationships. Joint families are almost extinct nowadays, and the wife and husband are leaving their parents to their own fate. Small families are coming up in the name of civilisation. In the final scenes, the play hoped that at least now the trend would change and the joint family concept would return.
The seasoned cast members included P.G. Vijayakumar, C. Sudhakar Babu, Y. Pullayya, V.V. Sivarama Reddy, S.R.S. Prasad, D.C.P. Sarma, Y. Saroja and Sarita. Fine technical support came from Raju (music), A. Sankara Rao (makeup), K. Venkateswara Rao (stage decoration) and P. Janardana Rao (lighting). Ch. Srinivasa Rao of Mithra Agencies inaugurated the programme. Abhiruchi president P. Krishnaji, secretary Noosetti Ramamohan Rao, and founder P. Panduranga Rao praised the artistes for their excellent performances. Madugula Ramakrishna of Akashvani compered the programme efficiently.
