Creative playwright, actor and director with plenty of laudable performances and scripts to his credit, Tulasi Balakrishna conceived this time, a novel idea of weaving a story around a single day’s events. He named it ‘Sangamam’ as it highlights the relationship between wife and husband. There are just three characters — husband Raja (Tulasi Balakrishna), wife Rani (Surabhi Prabhavati) and his father Ranga Rao (R. Sivakumar).

Tulasi Balakrishna presented this for Rasaranjani under his banner ‘Abhyudaya Nata Samakhya’ of Secunderabad. This play had already won awards in ‘Paruchuri Brothers’ Natakotsavas, for him as best actor and best director and for Surabhi Prabhavati as best actress.

The play was staged at Thyagaraya Ganasabha in connection with a felicitation ceremony of actor-director Tallavajhula Sundaram on the occasion of the 78th birth anniversary celebrations of the late Garimella Ramamurthy..

The play ‘Sangamam’ depicted the essence of relationships. Tulasi Balakrishna could draw upon experience garnered through many characters he had already played, in presenting the main role retaining the intended moods of the character intact. Surabhi Parabhavati often seen in varied roles in multiple dramas, also stole the show. Sivakumar too is an experienced actor and filled in another important characters. It was a play worth watching.
