The play “Woyzeck” will be staged on Thursday at 7.30 p.m. as part of the MetroPlus Theatre Fest. The story of a poor German soldier, driven to madness by brutal military discipline, inspired George Buchner to write the play. Discover the tragedy all over again, in a stripped down version, performed by Sadari Movement Laboratory (Korea), where objects and bodies combine to create a dynamic physical and visual language. The production was a sell-out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, after which it has been invited to tour the world. It’s a fresh interpretation of a familiar tale, surprising and deeply moving.
Tickets are priced at Rs. 500, Rs. 300 and Rs. 200. Student passes are available at Rs. 100. Tickets for all shows can be purchased at the venue (Sir Mutha Venkata Subba Rao Concert Hall, Harrington Road, Chetpet, Chennai) from 10 a.m. until the start of the performance.
