Adapted from Lee Blessing’s original play based on a real-life event, A Walk in the Woods is about two diplomats, in the middle of peace talks, well take a walk in the woods to try and achieve a breakthrough in negotiations between their countries.

This adaptation draws a parallel between the original play and the official relations between Indian and Pakistan

The play is an adaptation of Lee Blessing’s play of the same name, based on a real-life event, when Paul Nitze of the US and Yuli Kvitsinky of the USSR left their official Geneva sessions to take an unofficial walk in the woods and achieved a breakthrough, which was soon rejected by their governments.

About the group:

Motley was formed by Naseeruddin Shah and Benjamin Gilani in 1979. From being an itinerant troupe of two, Motley (later including Tom Alter, Ratna Pathak, Kenny Desai and Akash Khurana) now has a pretty large membership. The group went on to produce several short and full-length English plays. Motley’s diverse plays include Beckett’s Waiting For Godot , Shaw's Arms and the Man, Neil Simon's The Odd Couple. The group has adapted works by Premchand, Manto, Murakami, Italo Calvino, and Kahlil Gibran.
