Svanubhava returns

The next edition of Svanubhava is here. The cultural fiesta that brings various art forms of the country on to one platform, will be held from August 6-8, at the Rukmini Arangham , Kalakshetra, Tiruvanmiyur.

The fest is aimed at taking the arts to the student community at large, where they can not only be part of an artistic experience but also interact with performers and practitioners. It also hopes to create a future generation that will contribute to and value our artistic heritage. In short, it is run by students for students.

This year, the schedule looks like this:

August 6, 9.30 a.m.: Laya Advaitam (Sukanya Ramgopal and party); 10.30 a.m.: Ustad Mohi Baha’uddin Dagar (Hindustani rudra veena); 12.45 p.m.: ‘Parikshai, a Tamil play by Dummies Drama; 2 p.m.: Sujata Mohapatra (Odissi).

August 7, 9.30 a.m.: Anil Srinivasan (piano); 11 a.m.: Kalyanapuram Aravamudachariar (harikatha); 1 p.m.: Sumathi Rammohan Rao (mridangam solo); 1.45 p.m.: ‘Cosmic Dance Of Siva’ – Samudra (contemporary dance).

August 8, 9.30 a.m.: Pantula Rama (Carnatic vocal); 11 a.m.: Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman (mridangam solo); 12.45 p.m.: Prahlad Singh Tipanya (Malwi folk music); 2 p.m.: Chitrasena Dance Company from Sri Lanka presents ‘Nritta Tharanga.’
