Nutshell: Chathurveda Parayanam at Thiruvaiyaru

Sri Ayyarappar Kumbabisheka Vedaparayana Committee is conducting a five-day Chathurvedaparayam from February 3 to 7 at Thiruvaiyaru, in connection with the Ashtabandhana Mahakumbabishekam of Sri Dharmasamvardhini Ambal Samedha Sri Panchanatheeswaraswamy temple, belonging to the Dharmapuram Adheenam, to be performed on February 7, between 8.40 and 10.40 a.m. after four decades. The yagasala and other pujas of various deities begin on January 31.

M. Ananthanarayanan, one of the executive committee members, said that more than 100 Vedic scholars from various places would participate in the Veda Parayanam. Donations in the form of cheque or demand draft, may be drawn in favour of ‘Sri Ayyarappar Kumbabisheka Vedaparayana Committee’ payable at Tiruvaiyaru and sent to M. Ananthanarayanan, 23/57, Bavasamy Agraharam, Thiruvaiyaru-613204 or can be deposited at the City Union Bank savings bank account Number 1857638.

Brahmotsavam

The annual brahmotsavam will be celebrated at Sri Vanamutti Perumal Temple, Kozhikuthi, Cholanpettai Village, Mayiladuthurai Circle, Nagapattinam District, from February 4 to 9. Sri Vanamutti Perumal Kainkarya Sabha has sponsored the first-day’s programme which includes Suprabatha and Thomala sevai, nava kalasa tirumanjanam, Garuda homam and purnahuthi. The deity will be adorned with special alankaram and taken out in a procession on different mounts during the utsavam days.

Consecration

The ashtabandana mahakumbabishekam for Lord Maha Ganapathy installed at the mani mandapam premises of Sri Runa Vimochana Ganapathy Temple, Baskararajapuram, will be performed on January 27, between 8.55 and 9.30 a.m. The festivities begin from today with Vigneswara puja, special first kala puja and homam. And on the day of consecration (Jan. 27), the fourth kala puja, which will take place at 6.30 a.m., will be followed by maha purnahuthi and yatradhanam.

Varshika utsavam

The members of the Thenneri Agaram Sri Srinivasa Perumal Kaingaryam Sabha, 74/165, Lake View Road, West Mambalam, (ph: 4213 6469; 98402 24752), in association with the trustees of the 300-year old Srinivasa Perumal Temple at the Agaram village and and the locals have proposed to perform the varshika utsavam, at the temple on January 27.

The rituals begin with thirumanjanam for Srinivasa Perumal, Alarmelmangai Thayar and Sri Deva Perumal at 8 a.m. The Agaram village can be reached by going via the Tambaram-Padappai-Oragadam and Varanavasi routes or by taking the Sriperumbudur, Sunguvarcharitam - Walajabad - Thenneri route.
