Thousands of devotees witnessed the Mahakumbabishekam of the Sri Paramacharya Manimandapam that took place in Kanchipuram on January 28.
The monument, in the making for nearly a decade, has materialised – thanks to the contribution of devotees and philanthropists.
The Acharyas of the Kanchi Kamakoti Math were keenly following the progress of the work with Sri Jayendra Saraswati participating in the Bhoomi Puja, Bhela Sthapanam for the Paduka Mandapam in 2004, and Kalasa Sthapanam on the Vimanam in 2009. The first stage of the Manimandapam has just been completed.
The ceremonies were led by Sri Jayendra Saraswati and Sri Vijayendra Saraswati as consecraion took place between 9.45 and 10.30 a.m. Present on the occasion were Thondaimandala Adheenam and Sri Sachithananda Swamigal of Kalavai Kamalakkanni Amman Koil, apart from VIPs, dignitaries and political leaders.
