A rare musical treat and release of religious books in brail marked 'Guru Poornima'.

A cultural treatwas held last Sunday at Machilipatnam on the occasion of ‘Guru Poornima' under the aegis of Machilipatnam Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Dattasramam and blessed by Sri Datta Vijayananda Theerdha Swami, the Pontiff and the successor (Uttaradhikari) of the Datta Peetham of Mysore. The programme that took place on the local Hindu College premises was Sahasragala Guru Gita Musical rendition by a thousand participants. The musical chorus made up of mostly female singers from Hyderabad accompanied by instrumentalists rendered ‘Sri Guru Gita' excerpts numbering 142 from Sri Skanda Puran.

The packed audience were left spellbound by Venkatalakshmi who prepared her large team of participants for months on end for the final presentation. Later Sri Dattavijayananda Theerdha Swami released a few books in brail inscription rendered by Yadeswari of Mahabubnagar district. She has been an ardent devotee of Swamiji and a social worker as well as in the service of the blind.The titles Karya Siddhi Hanuman Chalisa, Anjaneya Charitra, Hridaya Bodha and Datta Kavyam were released.
