Sangeetha Ksheerasagaram featured Ranjani Sivakumar Siddareddy in a vocal recital held last week at the mini hall of Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. She was accompanied by Mallela Tejaswy on violin, Karra Srinivas on mridangam and Chandrakant on ghatam
She opened her concert with Saveri varnam that she presented in two speeds revealing richness in her voice. She then took Kambhoji for brief alapana and the composition she chose to present in this raga was Lambodara mavalambe of Mysore Vasudevachar. She rendered it with sahitya clarity. Ranjani then went for raga Saranga and presented it with an emotion that was carried into the rendition of the composition Neevadanegana of Thyagaraja.
The kriti was presented with thoughtful pauses and sangatis for lyrical words ‘Nidaana’ and ‘Atyantaroopambu’. A short burst of swarams revved up the overall mood of the composition. Swarakalpana was done at Satyambu Nityambu . She then sang Muddumomu of Thyagaraja in Suryakantam and then went for Reetigowla number Janani Ninuvina taking it as her sub-main number. She first delineated the raga in detail and the kirtana presentation was enriched with the presentation of neraval taking the line Manasija Maanasa Sammodini . The swarakalpana too carried the same tempo. Violinist Tejaswy gave impressive build of the raga and neraval and swaras as well.
Ranjani then rendered Chentane Sada Unchukovaiyya in Kuntalavarali in higher speed and lovely variations in sangati presentation for anupallavi and charanam passages.
She then went for main composition of the concert Meenakshi Me Mudam Dehi in Poorvikalyani of Dikshitar. The raga was neatly expanded and kriti rendition was interesting. She presented neraval too taking the line Hiragana Dashagamakakriye and followed it with swarakalpana maintaining the same tempo.
At this stage percussionists Srinivas and Chandrakanth were given chance to present tani avartanam that had a neat dialogue too between their instruments.
The latter part had Ramadasu kirtana Pahimam Sri Rama in Yadukula Kambhoji, Surdas bhajan Hey Govind and Sadasiva Bramhendra’s Gayati Vanamali in Durga.
