For the first-time ever, a violin festival will be held here in the city. The festival will be held on January 4.

Violin Vaibhvam, the day-long festival, will be held at Srinivasa Sastry Hall at Mylapore. It will commence at 9 a.m., and go on till 8 p.m.

The festival is being organized by Lalgudi Trust and Krutagnya Trust. The objective of this unique festival is to showcase violin as a solo instrument. Also, it is aimed at encouraging upcoming violinists to play solo.

The day-long festival will feature young violin artistes, drawn from different schools that teach different styles of violin-playing. It will also feature children of violin maestros, who are raring to go.

Violin vidushi Ms. A. Kanyakumari will inaugurate the festival. Each violin solo or duet will be for 55 minutes.
