Sri Kartikeya Gana Sabha featured Mokkarala Krishnakumari’s veena concert supported by P.V. Ramana Murthy on the mridangam and S.A. Phani Bhushan on the ghatam. The event was held at Sri Gnana Saraswathi Temple Auditorium, Musheerabad.
Krishnakumari opened her concert with Daruvu varnam Maathe Malayadhwaja in Khamas, Adi talam of Muthiah Bhagavathar. She then played Gajavadana in Sriranjani of Papanasam Sivan and chose to present brief swarakalpana that was pleasant. The rendition was good and the swarakalpana in the fast tempo spiced up the mood of the concert ahead. Sringara Lahari in Neelambari, a lesser heard number of Lingaraja Vurus was played with much relaxed tempo not compromising on the bhava embedded in the sahithya and was quite soothing
She then presented Saraswathi Namosthuthe in Saraswathi a composition of GNB. She played raga briefly for a while before she opened the kriti. She played the number with expressionist touch impressively and the swarakalpana she presented later also carried the mood of the raga. Marugelara in Jayanthisri of Thyagaraja was played and Nagumomu in Abheri before she took up Ninne Nammithinayya in Simhendra Madhyamam of Mysore Vasudevachar set in Misrachapu talam. It was treated as her sub-main number. The essaying of the raga and swarakalpana were impressive. The krithi rendition was good and marks the gayaki style of play. The Swarakalpana was good and did witness a series of ‘sarvalaghu sancharas’ and mixed it up nicely in the short and long phrases of swarakalpana.
Krishna Kumari concluded her concert with couple of compositions of Annamacharya Muddugare yashoda and Tandanana Ahi .
