Atreya and Nagendra Rao remembered.
Speaking on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the late Atreya, the reputed writer and movie lyricist, Kopparapu Balaram, president of Krishna Kala Bharathi, said that every song written by Atreya had a distinct style and flavour that struck a chord with listeners.
In a meeting held at Koutha Mandiram, several artistes and poets paid glowing tributes to Atreya, who was known as Manasu Kavi. Subramanyam, president of Samskriti Samrakshana Samithi, said that Atreya's songs are still alive in the hearts of moviegoers and the general public.
Release of playlets
Pingali Nagendra Rao, who was a successful script writer and lyricist, also penned a large number of books on patriotism in the people of Andhra.
A collection of 12 playlets of Nagendra Rao was released in a function held at Gokaraju Laila Gangaraju Kala Vedika situated in the grounds of G.V.R. Government College of Music and Dance, Vijayawada. The function was organised by District Writers Association.
Speaking on the occasion, Budha Prasad said that Pingali Nagendra Rao's dream was that all the Telugu people must unite and let the world know about the great culture of Andhra. Dr. Pooranchand traced the growth of Pingali from his childhood to a movie personality. He also congratulated Bharadwaj for helping to publish the volume Pingaleeyam. Other speakers included M. Aditya Prasad, Station Director of Akashvani, V.V.K rishna Rao , Dr. Rama Rao and Dr. Suresh Kumar.
