Noted singer and ‘Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini’ founder Padmasree Shobha Raju gave a scintillating performance at Annamacharya Kalamandir in Tirupati last week.
At a programme organised by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to celebrate ‘Bahula Dwadasi’ (the monthly Aradhana day of saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharya), artist Shobha rendered the ‘kritis’ along with 60 of her students. Prominent among the compositions were Kanti Sukravaramu in Raga Ananda Bhairavi and Kondalalo Nelakonna in Raga Hindolam. Sundaracharyulu on tabla and Ayyappa on keyboard provided accompaniment.
Commemorating the ‘Bahula Dwadasi’, the TTD management organised ‘Goshti Ganam’ and ‘Harikatha’ by artistes, followed by distribution of ‘Anna Prasadam’ to music lovers in the afternoon. Galla Chalapathi gave a discourse on ‘Annamayya Jeevanarekhalu’.
