Octogenarian Arvind Parikh's achievements boggle one's mind. Between the age of 8 and 14, he played the dilruba, flute and violin, after which he shifted to the sitar.

When he was 17, he had the good fortune of meeting sitar legend Ustad Vilayat Khan who was of the same age. Thus began a unique guru-shishya relationship that spanned over 50 years. Arvind Parikh has an equal passion for business — he was the chairman of the Lemuir group of companies and also owns a printing accessories' business. Currently, he is the pioneering force behind the All India Musicians' Group (AIMG) that aims to create greater awareness of Indian culture. Pandit- ji was in Chennai for a lecture-demonstration at The Music Academy on Wednesday.
