‘Divine Delights’ was truly a heavenly experience. Presented by the The Hindu recently at the Music Academy, the musical-extravaganza began with a special performance by globe-trotting saxophonist Kadri Gopalnath and well-known violinist A. Kanyakumari. Their 45-minute performance set the stage for a stellar show by eminent musicians Prasanna on guitar, Rajhesh Vaidya on veena, flautist Pravin Godkhindi, Stephen Devassy on keyboard, Keith Peters on bass guitar, ‘namma’ Anandan Sivamani on drums, Aditya Kalyanpur on the tabla and Karthick on the ghatam.
The evening took Prasanna, Keith Peters and Sivamani down memory lane as the three friends recalled their 3 A.M. band days. The trio played some wonderful music before being joined by Rajhesh Vaidya, Aditya, Stephen and Karthick. The super-seven enthralled the audience with an hour-long performance. The highlight of the show was Rajhesh Vaidya’s ‘RaVna’, a veena designed like a guitar while the mellifluous notes from Pravin’s flute had a magical effect.
The evening drew to a close as the nine gems came together for a sign off note! The fund-raiser was organised by Kasi Vishwanath Charities.
