The musical trio

October 23, 2009 09:12 pm | Updated 09:12 pm IST

Three musicians from Brazil are bringing a taste of their South American music — Rogério Caetano, Danilo Brito and Roberta Valente will play ‘choro’, a genre of music with a fast and happy rhythm, considered the first popular music typical of Brazil. In the show organised by the Embassy of Brazil, in partnership with ICCR, they will play several classic compositions from renowned musicians such as Pixinguinha and Jacob do Bandolim.

This form of instrumental music blends elements of European, African, and indigenous styles. The band will play at the Mylapore Fine Arts Club, Chennai Fort, on October 25. The show will begin at 6.30 p.m. Tickets are available at the ICCR office. For details, call 24460767.
