‘Sangeet Bharati Muktodhara,’ a music organisation, will mark 100 years of Rabindranath Tagore Nobel Prize for Literature, on July 5 by bringing together 1,000 singers for a choral performance. The event will take place in Kolkata and singers from other cities too will be part of this celebration.

The Chennai team, named ‘Sur-O-Lohori,’ will be headed by Swati Bhattacharya, who has been singing Rabindrasangeet singer since 1994. She has her Masters in Rabindrasangeet from Kolkata and is a regular performer in Chennai, at various Bengali cultural programmes.

Apart from Chennai, she also performs in Kolkata at regular intervals, besides staging shows at Ooty, Darjeeling and Mungpoo. Swati will be representing a team of 12 singers from Chennai, to join the celebrations which will be held in Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor Stadium.
