Tiruchi R. Ramesh presented vocal concert, organised under the auspices of Sri Guruguha Gana Sabha, Srirangam, held at Sri Raghavendra Mutt premises.

Ramesh began with Vasudevachar’s Gowla piece ‘Pranamamyaham’ followed by ‘Nannu Brova Neeku Intha Thamasama’ in Abhogi; an apalana of a rare raga ‘Teevra Vahini’ (Janya of Shadvidamargini) and the rarely heard Tyagaraja kriti ‘Sarijesi Veduka.’

‘Nenarunchi Nannu,’ a fast number in ragam Malavi was followed by an elaborate raga alapana in Ritigowla and the majestic Tyagaraja piece ‘Dvaitamu Sukhama.’ The Andolika item, ‘Sevikka Vendumayya’ was rendered next. The main piece of the evening, ‘Enduku Beddala,’ was taken up after an exquisite raga alapana in Sankarabharanam, followed by a brilliant thani by Srinivasan and Krishnaswami.

‘Tunga Teeravirajam’ rendered in ragamalika was appropriate for the occasion and the concert ended with a Thiruppugazh.

Madhav gave able support on the violin. Percussion support provided by Srinivasan and Krishnaswami added substantial value to the concert.
