At the audio launch of Masi Thiruvizha

What it is about…

Periyasami Movie Makers and Sasikala Cine Makers are jointly coming out with Masi Thiruvizha . E. K. Sekhar has written the story, screenplay, dialogue and lyrics, besides directing the film. The cast comprises Vithun, Banushree, Satheesh, Balameena, Kovai Balu and Rajkumar. The others involved are Seenu Adhithya (camera), Gandhidasan (music), Kargi (art), Thirumurugan (choreography) and Panneer (editing). The audio CD of the film was released by director Ra.Su. Madhuravan and received by veteran musicians Sudhakar (flautist) and Sakthivel (tabla player) who have played for almost all the music directors in the South and the North. The story is about how vulnerable girls are to crimes like rape in our society and how a young man takes revenge on the perpetrators. Music highlights

There are six numbers in the album. ‘Olaiyakka’, sung and written by K.A. Gunasekaran along with Gunavathi, is interesting. This song is repeated as the last number. All the other numbers are written by the director himself. ‘Vellikizhamai’ is sung well by Tippu, while Anitha joins him to render the beautiful ‘Mettupadikuthadi’. ‘Arabikkadalum’ is an attractive solo by Anitha. ‘Paavimagal’ in Madhu Balakrishnan’s sensuous voice wraps up the album.

What they say…

Producers G. Arulkumar and K. Sekar: When we heard the story, we were so impressed with it that we decided to produce the film ourselves. We are happy that the film has come out well.

Director E.K. Sekhar: I have worked as an associate to directors Anand and Rajkumar. I have made nearly eight short films and acted in some too. I have written all the songs except one in this film. Masi Thiruvizha is a powerful movie which seeks to find ways to prevent the horrific incidence of rape.

Hero Vithun: From a young age, I have been passionate about cinema. I am happy to play an advocate in my debut film. I’ve worked hard to essay the role convincingly.

Music director Gandhidasan: I have scored the music for Gummalam, Pathavi Paduthum Padu and Poopookkum Osai which is to be released soon. Director Sekhar who has listened to some of my earlier compositions wanted me to work with him on this project. I agreed to it as the storyline was very interesting.
