A look at the songs in the upcoming film Vellachi
What it is about…
Geethalaya Movies’ Vellachi, produced by Ambur K. Ananthan Naidu, features Pintu Pandu, actor Pandu’s son, and Suchithra Unni, a newcomer from Kerala, in the lead. Velu Vishwanath has taken care of the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction. Vellachi is a rustic love story with an interesting twist.
There are four numbers in the album and violinist Embar Kannan plays a solo. Velmurugan has sung a beautiful song ‘Machango Mamango.’ ‘Adi Sirukki’ sung by Haricharan and ‘Poiya Poche En Kadhal’ by Yuvan Shankar Raja make for interesting listening. ‘Ennadi Penne’ is a lovely duet by Priya and MLR Karthikeyan.
What they say…
Producer Ambur K. Ananthan: I have always been fascinated by the celluloid world. We were impressed with the village-based story director Velu Viswanath came up with. Besides he also finished the project on schedule and we are happy with the way the film has shaped up.
Director Velu Viswanath: As Vellachi is a village subject, we have shot it at places such as Vellore, Vaniyambadi and Palamathi which provide breathtaking views of the rural milieu, the mountains and the greenery all around. Now, the film is in the post production stage.
Hero Pintu Pandu: After finishing my MBA from Loyola College, I did Pattalam. When I came to know about the opening for this film, I approached them and was selected after an audition. The shoot was held in and around the mountainous areas of Tamil Nadu. I had to pick up the Tamil slang required for my role. The entire unit appreciated my work.
Music director Bhavatharini: When the director narrated the script of Vellachi to me, my confidence to compose the songs grew as it’s a village-based story. I am coming back as a music director after Amirtham and Illakkiyam and this gap has done me a world of good. So far I have scored the music for seven films in Telugu, Kannada and Hindi apart from the Tamil films. I have done my best; let’s see what people have to say after listening to my compositions.
