In an effort to bring out more of un-heard Annamacharya kirtanas, young Bhaskaruni Saicharan, a disciple of D.V. Mohanakrishna, presented a dozen quality numbers. These were set to music by Vinnakota Muralikrishna. The programme was presented at Thyagaraya Ganasabha's mini auditorium, last week.
Guruprasad on keyboard and Sri Ramu on tabla accompanied him. As is known that these composition are of Sahitya importance Saicharan got tuned to it and presented them with good intonation and verve. The sahitya has some arcane Telugu words that were in vogue during the Annamayya's time .
The opening number Alamelu Mangapativi narrating how Alimelu Manga surrendered to Lord Venkatesa, set the right mood for the concert. This was in Harikambhoji ragam. Sishtulanu Manninche Sisuveethadu the next one set in Darbari Kanada describes different stages of growth of Krishna.
All the description was in tune with sahitya of his times. Description of various facets of Srikishna is described in the kirtana Eedanundenindaaka composed in the shades of Thodi ragam. Neevalamelumangavu in Jenjhuti is partly a Sringara Kirtana focused on Venkateswara's consort Alamelu Manga.
