The original master test proof recording of Michael Jackson’s hit song ‘Thriller’ will go under the hammer at a Bonhams sale here on December 20 and is expected to fetch $ 4,000-6,000.
Other Jackson items at the Entertainment Memorabilia is a T-shirt of the late pop star from the ‘Beat It’ video (estimate: $ 10,000-12,000) and a collectible (estimate: $ 500-700).
The acetate disc features the title song from ‘Thriller’ along with the instrumental version. Used by Grammy-winning master recording engineer, Bruce Swedien to check the sound quality before Jackson released the single version of his hit song in January 1984, the record has only been played once.
Consigned by California State University Summer Arts and donated by Swedien, this album is being sold to benefit scholarships for students at California State University Summer Arts.
‘Thriller’ remains one of the best-selling records of all time earning Jackson two Grammys.
