A vocal recital by Pudukottai Meena Sundar marked the 58th monthly music festival organised by the Tiruchirapalli Tamil Isai Sangam held in the city recently. She was accompanied by Pudukottai Janakiraman on the violin, Tiruchi Swaminathan on the mridangam, Pudukottai Gopi Krishna on the ganjira and Sridhar on the ghatam.
N. Mohan, vice-president, Tamil Isai Sangam, Tiruchi, presided. S. Subramanian, Chief Executive, Mookambikai Group of Institutions, who was the chief guest, explained the role of musicians in Tiruchi district in promoting Iyal, Isai and Nataka Tamil. He urged the Sangam to take steps to construct a place of its own.
R.C. Janakarajan, Director, Trichy Engineering College, explained the role played by EVR. Periyar and Raja Sir Muthaiah Chettiyar family in promoting Tamilisai across the country.
P. Ramadoss, secretary of the Sangam, K.A.P.V. Kadiresan, and Rohini Marudachalam, trustees of the Sangam and others offered felicitations.
