‘Voices of Tomorrow,’ an exclusive music festival will feature some of the brilliant talents in Indian classical music below the age of 30

The Hindu, in association with The ARTery - a Chennai-based arts and culture magazine – will present ‘Voices of Tomorrow,’ an exclusive music festival featuring some of the brilliant talents in Indian classical music below the age of 30.

The event will be held from November 24 to 28 at the Rukmini Arangam, Kalakshetra, Thiruvanmiyur.

Conceptualised by Ramanathan Iyer, music buff and editor of The ARTery, the festival is intended as a curtain raiser for Chennai's December music season with emphasis on aesthetics and traditional content.

Five recitals

There will be five major Carnatic and Hindustani concerts, featuring one each day. K. Bharat Sundar, Ramakrishnan Murthy and Aishwarya Vidya Raghunath will be presenting Carnatic kutcheris while Aditya Khandwe (Mumbai) and Priya Purushothaman (Bengaluru) will present Hindustani recitals.

The concerts will be enhanced by the support of seasoned accompanists.

Also featured are concerts of budding musicians on each day including Ashwath Narayanan, Aishwarya Shankar, Archana-Aarathi, V. Subashri and Karthik Narayanan.

Straddling two performances everyday will be a thirty-minute speech by prominent artists and experts on issues of interest to music lovers.

Another highlight will be the presence of a surprise distinguished guest who will preside over each day's programme.

The festival is open to all music lovers. For those who are residing out of Chennai, there will be a live webcast and audio streaming. Watch this space next week for more details.
