Sarvani Sangeetha Sabha Trust presents Sree Devi Nava Naama Stuti compiled from Sree Lalitha Rahasya Nama Sahasraakrutulu composed by Tadepally Venkata Subrahmanya Sastry today, August 30, 6.15 p.m. at Raga Sudha Hall, Luz.
The late Sastry’s son and veteran vocalist Tadepally Lokanatha Sarma will render the songs.
Sree Lalitha Sahasranama compositions was Tadepally Venkata Subrahmanya Sastry’s work that spanned 24 years (1972-96). A gold medallist from Osmania University, Sastry was a math wizard too.
He has covered the 72 Melakarta ragas and the janya ragas of some of them. The repertoire includes 656 less heard ragas. Sastry passed away at the age of 93.
Tadepally Lokanatha Sarma’s recital today will have 11 songs on the following names of Sahasranama: Sree Lalitha, Sree Matha, Kaamaakshee, Bhavanee, Sarvanee, Durgaa, Umaa, Gowree, Mahakaalee, Mahatee and Lalithaambikaa.
