The three-day music festival was a mixed bag with some pleasing renditions and a few that failed to live up to expectations.

Swarajhari Sabha of Vijayawada arranged ‘Dussera Sangeetotsavam' for three days at Sri Sivarama Krishna Kshetram, Vijayawada. L. Jayaram, a staff member of Annamacharya Project, Tirupati, gave a vocal concert on the first day. Jayaram, a disciple of vidwan Modumudi Sudhakar, is also an accomplished violinist. He started his concert with an Ata tala varnam and continued with Girija Ramana , a composition of Mysore Vasudevachar in Gambhiranata and Sri Saraswati in Arabhi. Udayaravichandrika was impressively elaborated preceding the kirtana Himagiri tanaye .

Next came a brief delineation of Saveri in which Jayaram rendered Syama Sastri's Sankari Samkuru in adi talam (Trisra gati) impressing with his laya command. Jayaram's voice was tuneful and melodious. He also exhibited ample knowledge in Manodharmam aspects. After singing Marugelara of Thyagaraja, Jayaram went on to sing the main item Sarasijanabha Murare , a Swathi Tirunal composition in Todi set to Misra chapu talam. This item was adorned with sumptuous raga, niravel and efficient swaras. P. Nageswara Rao, the violin accompanist, presented five versions of Udayaravichandrika and Todi. Suresh Babu's mridangam was adequate. Towards the close of the concert, Jayaram rendered a couple of Annamacharya kirtanas.

The second day's concert, however, was a mediocre affair. The vocalist Dronamraju Sita of Tirupathi filled her concert with too many items which did not give much scope for manodharma aspects. In some places Sita's sruthi alignment fell short of perfection. Also, several erratic phrases found places in some ragas and even kalpana swaras. However, some notable items in her concert were Siddhi Vinayakam in Shanmukhapriya, Niravadhi Sukhada in Ravichandrika, Anadhudanuganu in Zingla and Nagumomu in Abheri. Sita presented a better show in the main item Himadrisute in Kalyani. She closed her concert with a few devotional songs. She was well supported by L. Jayaram on the violin and K. Jaganmohini on the mridangam.

The final day's vocal concert by Jonnalagadda Satya Sriram was quite engaging. Satya Sriram, a disciple of vidwan Akella Mallikarjuna Sarma of Hyderabad showed considerable potential. He sports a good voice with a wide range and fine pathantaram.

He started the concert with todi varnam and followed with Siddhi Vinayakam in Shanmukhapriya and Nannu Lalinchi in Dhanyasi. One of the major items in Sriram's consert was Syama Sastri's Mariveregati in Anandabhairavi. He explored the raga in detail, bringing out the rich bhava of the majestic raga well. Next came the main item Enduku Peddalavale in Sankarabharanam. The kirtana received sumptuous treatment of raga, niravel and swara kalpana. P. Nageswara Rao and young K. Aravind provided fine support to Sriram on violin and mridangan respectively.
