Nostalgic trip: Singers revel in songs of yore

Health league and Kalabhishek group, Hyderabad, presented an instrumental music concert titled Nostalgia , at the Keshav Memorial College auditorium. The group comprised professionals from Mumbai and ‘A' grade artistes of AIR and Doordarshan, who rendered songs from films and private albums with accompanists. The tunes had a classical background and some of the well-known and popular songs of yesteryears composed by maestros like Shankar-Jaikishen, Madan Mohan, S.D. Burman and Salil Chowdary were a part of the repertoire.

Starting with Raag Yaman, from the movie Abhiman , the audience was treated to soulful music for three hours non-stop. The audience was mesmerised with their music and sang along too.

Satish Khanwalkar on the Mohana veena and Prashanth Agnihotri on the flute played with perfection. Songs like O sajana barka bahar aye , Tumjo milgaye milgahe ho , Aapki nazaron ne humko , Tere mere milan ki , Tere mere sapne ab ek rang haiMere sapnon ki rani kab ayegi thuPucho na kaise man rain bitaye and many more were played.

The two instrumentalists were well supported with background score by key board player Pankaj Singh, Sandeep Kapoor on the guitar, Ramesh Shukla on the tabla and Umesh Chahande on the octopods. The background score for the song Rang aur noor ki baraat kise pesh karun received the maximum applause from the audience who kept asking for more.

Nasir Khan compered the show with wit, humour and anecdotes.
