Bombay Jayashri on Saturday presented the fourth annual Indira Sivasailam Endowment Concert at The Music Academy in front a capacity audience.
Prior to the concert, she was honoured with the Sivasailam Endowment Medal.
Venu Srinivsan, Chairman, TVS Motors, and his daughter Lakshmi Venu honoured the artiste with the medal and a citation.
Lakshmi Venu is the grand-daughter of late Indira Sivasailam, in whose memory the award was instituted. As has been the practice, the award-winner Jayashri gave a carnatic recital.
The award is instituted by Indira's daugthter Smt. Mallika Srinivasan (in association with The Music Academy) in memory of her mother Indira Sivasailam.
Accepting the award, Bombay Jayashri said she felt humbled by the award, and expressed the hope that the award would help further travel deep into her musical journey. She also recalled the contributions of her gurus — beginning from her mother to Bombay T.R. Balamani and Lalgudi G. Jayaraman — in sharpening her musical knowledge. She felt happy receiving the Indira Sivasailam Award at the venerable venue, especially since it also marked quarter century of her association with The Music Academy.
