Bharat Sangeet Utsav from October 30

Bharat Sangeet Utsav, a popular musical event commencing on October 30 in Chennai will showcase the multi-dimensional spectrum of Indian music, featuring concerts by prominent artistes of both the Carnatic and Hindustani styles.

Bharat Sangeet Utsav, one of the most popular musical events in the city, has now become the traditional prelude to the Chennai December music festival. This year’s festival showcases the multi-dimensional spectrum of Indian music, featuring concerts by prominent artistes of both the Carnatic and Hindustani styles.

Organised by Carnatica which is known for its innovation in blending tradition and technology, the festival will kick off in Chennai on 30 October, 2010 at Narada Gana Sabha (Main Hall) and will be formally inaugurated by the Hon. Law Minister of State Durai Murugan, Ms. Kanimozhi MP, Mr. Andrew Simkin, U.S. Consul General, Chennai. Legendary musician-composer, Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, will be conferred the lifetime achievement award.
