Guru Kaaraikudi Mani’s Sruthi Laya Ensemble and Members of the Australian Art Orchestra were declared winners of the prestigious 2013 ART Music Awards announced in Australia. They bagged the award for their performance of Sandy Evans’s ‘Meetings at the Table of Time,’ a performance recording which was made during The Hindu November Fest 2012. Combining Western jazz and Carnatic music, this unique work created a unified performance of depth and integrity.

Winners were announced across 11 national categories and seven state categories for the 2013 ART Music Awards, which was held on August 26 at a function in Sydney. Hosted by APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre (AMC), the ART Music Awards are the only national event in Australia to acknowledge the extraordinary achievements and creative successes of Australian composers, performers and educators in the genres of contemporary art music, jazz and experimental music.

A proud achievement, indeed!
