Renowned scholars rendered episodes from the Ramayana, much to the delight of the audience.
A 12-day ‘Ramayana Harikatha Yagnam' was organised at G.V.R. Government College of Music and Dance, Vijayawada, that attracted unprecedented crowds on all days. The audience enjoyed the episodes from Ramayana, rendered by Bhagavatars invited from all over the State. It was a memorable event that did not have a parallel in the recent past in the city.
Each day a renowned Bhagavatar or Bhagavatarini rendered the episodes from Ramayana starting from Srirama Jananam rendered by S. Bharathi of Eluru followed by Sita Kalyanam (K. Sarada of Tadepalli Gudem), Srirama Vana gamanam (Ramabhattar of Vijayawada), Paduka Pattabhishekam (A. Raghavendra Rao from Vizianagaram), Seetapaharanam (K. Nirmala from Vizianagaram), Srirama Sugreeva Maitri (Chirra Bramhananda Reddy from Talluru) and Sugreeva Pattabhishekam (Dhulipala Sivaramakrishna from Guntur). The contents of the episode drowned the audience in a sea of devotion.
On the next three days, the Department of Culture and Viswasri Creations sponsored discourses on Ramayana and Sanatana Dharma by internationally renowned scholar Chaganti Koteswara Rao from Kakinada.
Following the discourses, Music College Principal C. Munikumar stated that some more Bhagavatars would render Harikathas closing the episodes with Srirama Pattabhishekam. It was heartening to note that many well-known firms and individuals came forward to sponsor the Harikatha Festival held jointly by the Department of Culture, A.P., and the Music College.
