Art and Dance Festival

The 55th Art and Dance Festival organised by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha will be inaugurated by N. Ram, Editor-in Chief, The Hindu, on December 11, 6 p.m. Preetha Reddy, MD, Apollo Hospitals will light the kuthuvilakku. The titles, Nritya Choodamani and Acharya Choodamani, will be conferred on Gopika Varma and Radhika Shurajit. After the ceremony, Krithika Varsha will present a Bharatanatyam recital.

Music fest

CarnaticRadio.com, an Internet-based radio station in Singapore, devoted to Carnatic music, in association with SIFAS (Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society) is organising a five-day music festival, December 27-31, at the Tattvaloka Auditorium, Eldams Road.

Velacheryil Marghazhi Utsavam-2010

Isai Vizha

The 11th Annual Music Festival, organised by Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, will be inaugurated on December 15, 5.45 p.m., at Vidya Bharathi, 55, Bheemasena Garden Road, Mylapore, by Sri Ranganatha Yatindra Mahadesikan Swamigal of the Ahobila Mutt. The ceremony will be followed by the recital of R.K. Srikantan and Chitravina Ravikiran.

Hamsadhwani NRI fest

Hamsadhwani will hold its 16th NRI Annual Music and Dance festival 2010 from December 15 to December 31 at Youth Hostel, 2nd Avenue, Indira Nagar, Adyar.

Some highlights are a thematic violin concert on Lalgudi melody in Hindustani ragas by Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi on December 20, accompanied by Nittin Mitta (USA) on the tabla); a Hindustani recital by Gayatri Kaundinya (USA) on December 21; a Bharatanatyam recital by Prof C.V.Chandrasekhar on December 25 and Odissi by Shibani Patnaik from USA on December 30.

The festival will be inaugurated on December 15 by Suresh K. Goel, Director General, Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) New Delhi. Dan Saint Rossy, Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate General-Chennai and V.P. Dhananjayan are the guests of honour. Verushka Pather, a dancer from South Africa, will be felicitated and later , at 6 p.m., she will present a Bharatanatyam recital. For details contact 97909 09567.
