Kala Kruthi

The sabha's annual music festival on from December 4-9, will inaugurated on December 4, 6 p.m., at Sankaralayam, 63 Mayor Ramanathan Road, Chetpet, by vidushi Padmavathi Ananthagopalan. The guests of honour are Jayalakshmi Santhanam, Nirmala Sundararajan and Seetha Narayanan. The event will be followed by a vocal concert by M.S. Sheela.

Kartik Fine Arts

The sabha in association with The India Cements and Saba Foundation, is hosting its 36th annual music and dance festival from today (December 1) till January 17, 2011, at two venues — Narada Gana Sabha and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore.

The fest will be inaugurated this evening, 6 p.m., at Narada Gana Sabha by K. Alauddin, principal secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu (Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj). M. Chockalingam, Judge, Madras High Court, presides and vocalist Aruna Sairam is the guest of honour. On the occasion, J. Vaidyanathan will be conferred the title ‘Isaiperoli’ and Lavanya Shankar will be presented the ‘Nadanamamani’ title.This will be followed by a Bharatanatyam recital by Subanjali Sadgurudas, a disciple of the Narasimhacharis.

Shi-ba Sangeetha Sabha

The annual music festival of Shi-Ba Sangeetha Sabha will be inaugurated this evening (December 1), 5 p.m., at Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar.

At the eight-day fest which ends on December 8, mridangam vidwan Mannargudi Easwaran will be conferred the title ‘Sangeetha Seva Ratna', which carries a memento and cash prize.

After the award ceremony, Maharajapuram S. Srinivasan will present a vocal concert.

Kalarasana

The sabha’s 28th annual festival will start from December 16, 2010 and go on till January 9, 2011, at Rani Seethai hall, Anna Salai. Season tickets priced Rs. 4,000, Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,000 are available at the venue from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, call 2493 9539.
