The celebration of 225th Jayanthi of Toomu Narasimha Dasu, a devotee of Bhadrachala Sri Rama, was held at Ravindra Bharati’s conference hall for three days under the banner of ‘Sri Bhadra Peetham’ of Toomu Ramakrishna, a descendent of Narasimhadasu.
Noted vocalists presented a concerts on the occasion. Srinivasulu and P.V. Subba Rao on the first day, Y. Ramaprabha and her three disciples on the second day and Phani Narayana and his two disciples on the final day rendered select numbers of Narasimha Dasu. All these vocalists set their own tunes to these compositions. Of them, noted vocalist Ramaprabha who has done some research on Toomu Narasimha Dasu opened her concert with a sloka and presented a dozen numbers with reference to context of his real life events. Rama Sahaya Mennatiki in Reeti gowla, Bhajanachese Vidhamu Teliyandi in Sowrashtra, Chamara Sesva Avadharimpudu in Desh, Shodasopachara Pooja in Desh, Kappura Videmulivigo and some more numbers were her selection. She concluded with Pore Mee Indlaku in Kuntalavarali that Narasimha Dasu sang in Thyagaraja’s house and concluded with Selava Maaku .
The other interesting concert was that of Phani Narayana, who rendered Meluko Sugunalavala in Bowli, Jayamangalam Nitya in Sindhu Bhairavi, Parama Padamu in Chakravakam, Jo Jo Raghothama in Neelambari, Sita Manoviharunaku in Sankarabharanam, Lali Sri Raghukula in Mohana and Harati Sri Sasi in Yamunakalyani. He too concluded his concert with Selava Maaku in Madhyamavati.
Y. Srinivasulu and Subba Rao too came out with their own choice numbers, a dozen each. Violinists K. Rajan and Sai Kumar and mridangam artiste Gunaranjan lent good support.
