Enlightening commentary

Venkat Garikapati’s book ‘Sriramanjaneya Ramaneeyam’ was released recently.

HYDERABAD: In a colourful function at Gokaraju Laila Gangaraju Kala Vedika, Vijayawada, a book titled Sriramanjaneya Ramaneeyam was released by scholar, musicologist, composer Balantrapu Rajanikanta Rao, also retired Station Director, Akashvani. The attractivebook with a fine picture of Rama and Anjaneya in ‘Ardhanareeswara swaroopam’ done by famed painter Kuchi on the cover, contains 56 Annamacharya kirtanas specially selected by the author of the book Venkat Garikapati .

Venkat has made a deep study of the life and works of ‘Sankirtana Pitamaha’ Tallapaka Annamacharya. Sriramanjaneya Ramaneeyam describes through the selected kirtanas, the divine relationship between Srirama and Anjaneya. Venkat’s enlightening commentary for each kirtana revealed his literary excellence and scholarly insight into Annamayya’s rich lyrics.

The function was organized jointly by Sri Krishna Swararaaga Sravanthi of Hyderabad and Andhra Arts Academy of Vijayawada A special guest was Sri Kuchi.

The book release function was followed by the rendition of a few Annamcharya Kirtanas by Malladi Swati, supported by D.Veerabadrarao (keyboard) and Chitti Babu (tabla). Venkat Garikapati’s explicit and enlightening commentary for the kirtanas was highly impressive.
