Located at 50 km from Chennai, on way to Puducherry near Kalpakkam is Parameswaramangalam, where a temple for Sri Bhoomidevi sameda Sri Sowmya Damodara Perumal is getting ready for consecration. The 300-year old temple, found in ruins, has been renovated and samprokshanam will take place on February 20, 6.30 a.m.
The temple is associated with construction activities. Sri Damodara Perumala and Sri Vaastulakshmi are said to help devotees overcome hurdles they come across while building houses. Excavation yielded beautiful utsavar deities. The Moolavar idols will be removed from the temporary shelter to be housed in the sanctum sanctorumtoday, February 1, 8.30-9 a.m.
Consecration has also been fixed on the same day, 11 a.m for a Siva temple situated close to the Kalpakkam nuclear power station. The ancient Kanakambika sameda Kailasanathar temple, built in the middle of River Paalar, has been renovated with the help and guidance of REACH Foundation. Ancient technique using lime has been deployed in the construction. The temple has an exquisite sculpture of Siva in meditation and a cow bathing Him in milk both being protected from rain by the hood of a huge King Cobra.
