Celebrating heritage

To celebrate World heritage Week, Dakshinachitra hosts the works of two artists — ‘Drawings of Traditional fishing boats in Bay of Bengal’ by E. Amalore and ‘Photographs of South Indian Monuments’ by N. Thyagarajan.

A mechanical engineer by profession, Amalore served as artist, photographer and technical draughtsman in the UN’s Food And Agriculture Organisation (FAO) for 20 years. He served in the information division of the project, and travelled extensively in these coastal regions, drawing, painting and capturing their serenity in his camera.

N. Thyagarajan, an alumni of the Government College of Arts and Crafts, has been capturing monuments of the Chola and Pallava period.

During the last couple of years, he has been travelling in Southern Tamilnadu, especially to temples in Thanjavur, Kumbakonam and Kancheepuram. All the works are for sale.

The event will be on from November 19 to 25 at DakshinaChitra Art Gallery, East Coast Road, Muttukadu, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
