A re-dedication ceremony was held for the historic St. George's Church at Abids on the occasion of completion of its 143 years on Monday.

The church, which is under the Church of South India Trust Association, was under renovation since last year. Though no major changes have been made to the structure, members of the church have seen to it that it has not lost its original charm.

Renovation

“We have not made any changes to the structure, but only renovated it with the traditional amalgam of lime and other materials which were used in its construction over 100 years ago. Moreover, a part of the stone flooring of the church was removed to install granite as well as during the renovation works,” said Rev. Zaccheaus Katta Presbyter in charge.

The re-dedication ceremony was presided by Bishop Rt. Rev. T.S. Kanaka Prasad and was attended by M. Mukesh Goud, B.C. Welfare Minster, who offered to help the church in anyway possible in future.
