Preethi Tatambhotla, a disciple of Sobha Naidu, performed at Telugu University Auditorium under the aegis of Natya Swara. Her performance was dominated by Navarasa presentation where she portrayed varied themes representative of each of the ‘rasa’ mirroring her skills in abhinaya and jati presentation.
She opened her show with invocation to Goddess Saraswathi interpreting the sahitya of the composition Mamavathu Sri Saraswathi of Mysore Vasudevachar in Hindolam. A taranagam Nanda Nandana Gopala of Narayana Teertha gave scope to play up some of the naughty deeds of child Krishna. This number was set in ragamalika, Adi talam. The Annamacharya kirtana that figured next was Vachenu Alamelu Manga.
The major number of Navarasas that figured next brought out various episodes related to each of the nine moods that demanded the dancer’s skills of interpretation.
Preethi then chose Balamuralikrishna’s tillana in Kuntalavarali, set in Aditalam, presented with vigour and perfection.
Choreography for all these numbers was by Sobha Naidu. P.R.C. Sarma conducted the show with crisp nattuvangam to Rajagopalachari’s mridangam support. Swetha Prasad provided mellifluous and animated vocal support. Sai was on violin.
Former DGP, H.J. Dora felicitated the artistes in the presence of Kamala Thyagarajan.
