Sattriya performance in Chennai

The 16th century Sattriya performance art of Assam will be showcased on March 30 and 31

Using speech, theatrical props, rare musical repertoires and classical choreography, Indira and Dr. Menaka PP Bora will explore the sacred and secular perspectives of the 16th century Sattriya performance art of Assam within a contemporary context.

‘Sattriya Nritya Theatre,’ an inaugural solo performance by Dr. Menaka at Ugadhi-Telegu Film Awards Show, will be held on March 30, 5.30 p.m. at the Music Academy. ‘Sattriya Repertoire:Tradition and Beyond’ by Indira and Dr. Menaka is on March 31, 6.30 p.m. at Narada Gana Sabha. The guests of honour are Dr. Vyjayantimala Bali, The Dhananjayans and R. Krishnaswamy.
