Raja Reddy's Natya Tarangini brought forth new talent into Kuchipudi field, after they launched a branch in Hyderabad in 2007. Raja, Radha and Kaushalya Reddy and their daughters Yamini and Bhavana make a good team in training the youngsters in the true spirit of guru-sishya parampara. The annual show of Natya Tarangini held at Ravindra Bharathi recently was different from the usual dance school anniversaries. The students presenting the numbers introduced themselves by announcing their names. The repertoire had an unusual number in English depicting equality of all dharmas and all religions. It was more of a verbal presentation. More than 40 children took part in this annual event.
The show opened with Ganapati Vandana in Gowla by dancers Lalitha, Udaya, Usha and Padmaja. This was followed by Jathiswaram in raga Athana presented by Suhani, Vedashri, Alekhya and Aparajita to a well set nritta, with a pleasing expression involving eyes, eyebrows, neck and footwork patterns.
The next number was Devi Stuti set to raga Neelambari presented by Pratibha, Jyothi, Sahiti, Deepika, Usha, Udaya and Lalitha. This was in praise of Goddess Parvathi with notes in praise of the divine glory. After a tillana in ragamalika with rhythmic variations, Rajasri sabdam in ragamalika was presented by Sindhu Sivani, Anuradha, Soumya, Haritha and Nitika. Sangeethakala, Rajyalakshmi and Kaushik lent vocal support. Raja Reddy conducted the show with mridangam support by Bhaskara Rao.
